Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Police stated they were contacted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state early analysis show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.

City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
